Learning Education in Dubai, Career in Dubai for Learners
The literacy levels in any country are a precursor to the development in the region. Education and subsequent career opportunities in the UAE have developed in the last 15 years. Now there are many reputed Schools and Universities that encourage studies for male and female students. With the increase in the population also there has been a need to increase primary study levels. Recently NAJAH (education, training and career development organization) facilitated exclusively an exhibition for women. They are helping women to choose study criteria, training programs and alternate careers. In education and healthcare sectors women are doing very well. According to the Civil Service Commission nearly 65% of teachers are women in UAE.
Even at the schools level the number of female students has increased. Nearly 270,000 girls enrolled in schools in 1997. In the seventies there were about only 19,000 students. In 1998 the Zayed University opened. Now there are more female students. Women have yet to get more employment opportunities compared to the high education they are receiving. The current ruler’s late father Sheikh Zayed said once, “Nothing could delight me more than to see the woman taking up her distinctive position in society. Nothing should hinder her progress. Like men, women deserve the right to occupy high positions according to their capabilities and qualifications.”
There are school and colleges in Dubai. About 88 public schools belong to the Ministry of Education. There are 132 private schools for expatriates. Arabic language is the main medium. English is the second language. There are many Indian and Pakistani schools as many people from these countries work and live there. There is a general private sector of learning also. They provide joint (male and female) higher study facilities abroad. The expenses are paid by the government for it.
One can get career guidance and recruitment in Dubai. Some of the sectors are engineering, medicine, call centres, dentistry, laws, banking, fashion designers, airline, hotels, travel and advertising. The career and learning facilities in the city are supported by the government. They also provide accommodation for students wanting to pursue their learning and career in the country. Since Dubai has many opportunities, students from many neighboring Islamic countries come to learn and earn. With the economy in the country looking upwards, the facilities for education and taking up a vocation look promising.
The level of all round learning has improved in the UAE. As the country seeks to improve all its revenue paying sectors, it is natural that it makes learning primary and compulsory for all locals. It is the youth of the nation that will eventually carry forward the legacy that has been carefully developed by the ruling family. The expatriates will come and go back to their respective countries, eventually. The economy has to be sustained by the local development. This can only happen when the youth can take over the vanguard. Providing the right education to both men and women is the key for survival in the future.
