About Institute of Fundamental Studies

The Institute of Fundamental Studies, also referred to as IFS, is the highest regarded institute of basic and applied research in Sri Lanka. It was founded in 1981 by an act of parliament and primarily located in Colombo and then in 1985 moved to Kandy. The goal of setting up IFS was to encourage the expansion of knowledge by the enhancer of the countries national scientific research capability, in determined career fields to gradually build a knowledge-based Sri Lankan society.

Conference/ Vacancies

The auditorium is mainly meant for actions placed by the IFS, but it may be rented out to outdoor organizations at the discretion of the Director of IFS by prior set up.
