Though the university was founded on 22nd December, 2010 by a ordinance of Education Ministry. It has a long past history. Throughout the British colonial rule in 1921 a weaving school was founded in Narinda, Dhaka to fulfill textile technical education by giving artisan level course.

Admission method and entry conditions

• Admission is remarkably aggressive and requirements a high academic accomplishment at the S. S. C. and H. S. C. levels. Assortment of the student for admission is produced through entrance test of 200 marks and thinking about GPA of S. S. C. and H. S. C. Students get opportunity to take admission matching to merit. The entry conditions for admission test are:

University of Textiles Students must be Bangladeshi by birth or legal immigrant

• Passed S. S. C. (Sc) with GPA 4. 00 from any Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education or equivalent.
• Passed H. S. C. (Sc) or comparative examination of the existing academic year receiving at least GPA of 4. 00 and on an average at least GP 4. 50 but singularly not below grade point 3. 50 in physics, chemistry and mathematics. Students who exceeded in intermediate in the earlier academic year can also apply.
• Academic year and medium of teaching
• The academic session begins from 1 July each year and ends on 30 June. The choice of instruction is English.

• International students must apply well in progress through their individual Bangladesh embassies to the Ministry of Education.
