The Faculty of Applied Sciences was in appearance even under the period of Wayamba Campus of Rajarata University with only 3 Departments namely, Mathematical Sciences, Industrial Management and Computer Science, Applied Nutrition Later in 1999 when Wayamba University of Sri Lanka was created, 5 Departments were connected to the Faculty. They are Department of Electronics, Department of Computing and Information Systems, Department of Industrial Management and Department of Applied Nutrition. In year 2004, the Department of Applied Nutrition was separated from the Faculty and now it is connected to the Faculty of Livestock, Fisheries & Nutrition. With innovative 4 Departments, the Faculty has produced its perspective and objective in line up with the Wayamba University of Sri Lanka vision and mission and also thinking of the national requires.

We are dedicated are for the development of the human resource expertise through supervision education, research and outreach programs to meet the problems in the business world.
The Faculty of Business Studies and Finance (FBSF) of the Wayamba University of Sri Lanka was organized on 01 October 1999 by the Government Notification in the Remarkable Gazette No. 1093/8 of Tuesday, 17 August 1999.
The Faculty is found at Kuliyapitiya driveway of the Wayamba University of Sri Lanka and comprises of 4 departments of studies, specifically, Department of Accountancy, Department of Banking and Finance, Department of Business Management and Department of Insurance and Valuation.
Diploma in Insurance
The Department of Insurance and Valuation provides the ‘Diploma in Insurance’ to serve the extended felt require of the Insurance Industry in Sri Lanka as there is not a single diploma programme in insurance offered by any university. This one-year diploma course presented at a time when Sri Lanka requirements completely fledged professionals in the spheres of insurance and valuation. The prime objective of this diploma is to offer a firm grounding in insurance essentials and to allow applicants to create toward advanced specialised knowledge thereby guaranteeing applicants have the means to function
efficiently in a difficult atmosphere.

GCE Innovative Level exceeded or
2 subjects of GCE Advanced Level with TWO years related working expertise or
GCE Ordinary Level with THREE years related working expertise ( Inclinations will be given to the staff members of Insurance sector)
